Mission

Our mission: To develop, empower and promote ethical leaders. Our vision: Advancing ethical leadership to influence the world.

Background

Across the United States, employees and organizations are constantly facing ethical dilemmas. With the nonstop barrage of ethical issues in our everyday world, it is inevitable that some good people will make bad decisions. Very often, people are unprepared for the ethical issues they must address professionally and personally. Often employees, managers and corporations engage in unethical behavior when they have not been trained in the appropriate way to manage ethical issues.
When ethical violations occur, there can be drastic consequences to all involved. Not only is there tremendous damage to personal and professional reputations, but there can also be the loss of employment and criminal prosecution. Unethical decisions and the consequences negatively impact various stakeholders such as consumers, stockholders, employees and staff.
In 2005, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) enlisted the support of more than 160 leaders and organizations to develop the NASBA Center for the Public Trust (CPT). By developing, encouraging, engaging, and promoting ethical leadership, the CPT is empowering current and future business leaders to strive to regain the public's trust and through sound ethical decisions. We achieve our mission through student and professional activities, certification programs, publications, and service recognition events.

Needs

A donation of $5,000 provides start-up funds for a new StudentCPT chapter. Our Sponsor a Leader campaign provides funds for students from across the United States to attend our annual StudentCPT Leadership Conference. $1,200 sponsors one student to attend the conference, $600 sponsors the travel for one student, and $150 sponsors the meals for one student. A donation of $2,000 per StudentCPT chapter is needed to implement a financial literacy community service program benefiting middle school students. These funds will be used for student training, curriculum development, and facilitation materials. Your financial contribution toward ethics advancement programs help us communicate ethical leadership resources through blogs, newsletters, and in-person events. Our student chapters are always looking for professionals to provide insight into how they can maintain ethical values in the workplace.
