Mission
Studio Tenn exists to captivate and inspire with Broadway-quality musicals, plays, and concerts while educating the next generation to create and delight in the experience of live theatre.
Background
Studio Tenn is a professional regional theatre company and a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Franklin, Tennessee. Its programming centers around innovative, custom-designed presentations of classic plays and musicals as well as an original "Legacy" series of theatrical concerts celebrating the work of time-honored musicians.
VISION: To transform Studio Tenn into a Tony Award-winning regional theatre company where artistry and community take center stage.
VALUES: We prioritize the utilization of top-tier local and regional talent. We remain committed to diversity, inclusion, and equality as drivers of the creative process. We engage Williamson County residents and the Middle Tennessee community at large in conversations around the arts as a reflection of life.
Impact
Past year accomplishments: *Studio Tenn is currently wrapping up its 13th full season of classic plays and musicals, including ELTON JOHN & TIM RICE'S AIDA: IN CONCERT, CHARLES DICKENS' A CHRISTMAS CAROL, SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN, and the new Dolly Parton musical HERE YOU COME AGAIN. The season preceding moving to a newly renovated home theater - the Turner Theater in The Factory at Franklin - the 2022-23 season took place at venues from TPAC's Polk Theater, to the Franklin Theatre, to the Historic Sanctuary of Franklin First United Methodist Church. Goals for the upcoming 2023-24 season include: To increase contributed income by applying for financial support from corporate sponsors, government grants, and private foundations, as well as expanding our base of individual donors and elevating our ONE NIGHT ONLY fundraising gala and auction. Extend and expand our Studio Tenn Education to include: a newly revitalized College for-credit internship program that is structured in the style of a liberal-arts curriculum, in order to give students a well-rounded view of working at a collaborative and cross-departmental professional theater; The Stud10 Education Program, including a Theatre for Young Audiences series which will include A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD and JUNIE B. JONES THE MUSICAL. Studio Tenn partners with Bridges for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to bring high-quality arts experiences to communities with accessibility needs and plans to expand this effort. SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN included an ASL-interpreted performance; Studio Tenn will schedule an ASL-interpreted performance for each mainstage production going forward.
Needs
Like most organizations, Studio Tenn is still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. Our most immediate need is to raise $3.5M in contributions to fund the renovation of the Turner Theater at The Factory at Franklin. These funds will allow us to secure a rehearsal space and launch the new theater in the fall of October. Studio Tenn continues to apply for any financial Government support to help navigate the theater's Grand Opening, as well as annual operational expenses.
