Description
Rock Block MNPS is an afterschool program in the Spring and Fall at a Title 1 Metro Nashville Public Middle or High School. It runs for 10 weeks, once or twice a week, for 60 to 90 minutes each session. This enrichment opportunity is made possible by the Tennessee Arts Commission's Art Pathways grant award and the support of Nashville After Zone Alliance (NAZA), which assists in offering the program at no charge to schools or students. Instrument instruction (like guitar, percussion, vocals) songwriting, solo and band collaboration develop musical, technical and life skills. By adding or complementing youth involvement in arts and music, YEAH! increases participants' self-esteem, appreciation for similarities and uniquenesses and the value of collaboration over competition. Rock Block MNPS concludes in a showcase for the community.

Description
YEAH! Rocks is a one-week all day music education Summer camp in Nashville for ALL youth and musical levels ages 6 - 17. To better practice our inclusivity values, this camp replaces our previous camps: Southern Girls Rock Camp and Tennessee Teens Rock Camp). Camp supports social responsibility and collaboration over competition.
Campers increase instrument proficiency (bass, drums, guitar, keyboard and vocals), work together as a band, write original music, participate in workshops and panels, attend performances by local artists and perform in a showcase at a local venue.

Participants take risks, learn beyond musical instruments and create art about their similarities and uniquenesses. Campers develop life skills that will prepare them to be active contributing members of society.

YEAH!'s lending library provides personal instruments and our scholarship program removes financial barriers to enrollment for all applicants.

Description
Rock Block is a music education program in Nashville for youth of all musical levels ages 10 - 17. Participants learn the art of playing music (bass, drums, guitar, keys, or vocals) through the experience of playing in a band. The program runs in the Spring and Fall for nine consecutive Saturdays for two hours. Led by local teaching artists and a socially responsible curriculum, including workshop elements about music's ecosystem, students form a band and write an original song. Rock Block concludes on the 10th Saturday with a showcase at a local venue. Students are placed in a band based on instrument of choice, experience and availability. Like at our camps, student bands decide the topic and style of what they will sing/compose, their name, look and promotional materials.

YEAH!'s lending library provides personal instruments and our scholarship program removes financial barriers to enrollment for all applicants.
