Rokeisha's Experience: Rokeisha is a passionate advocate for youth and families who believes in the transformative power of amplifying the voice of marginalized populations in an effort to advance wellbeing and inspire action. Prior to joining Cafe Momentum (Nashville) as the Inaugural Executive Director, Rokeisha worked at the Oasis Center for 14 years serving in multiple capacities, from overseeing after-school programs and mentoring programs, leading city-wide community service-learning initiatives and youth councils (Tennessee Youth Advisory Council), to managing the REAL (Reaching Excellence As Leaders) diversion program. During the last seven years, Rokeisha's work was devoted to providing training, monitoring, and technical assistance to organizations across Tennessee with performance-based contracts to serve system-involved youth in foster care or juvenile justice settings as a certified replication partner for the Wyman's National Network evidence-based Teen Outreach Program (TOP). Rokeisha has also provided expertise for EPIC Girl, Nashville Prevention Partnership, Juvenile Judge Sheila Calloway Transition Team, Nissan, Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee, Unity Church of Nashville and is an Adjunct Professor at Vanderbilt's Peabody College. She serves on the Healthy Nashville Leadership Council (Mayoral appointment) to support mental health and reduce toxic stress, and PASSAGE (Positive and Safe Schools Advancing Greater Equity) Steering Committee as chair of the parent and community engagement workgroup. Rokeisha previously served on the Davidson County Foster Care Review Board, Nashville Emerging Leaders Board (Co-Chair), and Women of Color Collaborative Board. Rokeisha received her B.S. from Tennessee State University and her M.Ed. from Vanderbilt University Peabody College. She is a recipient of the Tennessee State University Community Partner of the Year Award, the Oasis Center Roy Hutton Vision in Action Award, and was nominated for Nashville Emerging Leader Award. |
