| Steve's Experience: Steve Fleming has been named Executive Director of BCN and has been affiliated with the Center for over 40 years. Mr. Fleming began as a child as one of BCN's program participants, and later secured employment with BCN as a community advocate, the Volunteer Coordinator, and Youth Programs Director. He credits BCN with sparking his interest to work in the areas of social work and ministry. He received immunization shots at BCN as a child, he attended child and youth programs at BCN, and his first employment experiences were at BCN through the Center's Jobs Training Partnership Act Summer Youth Employment Program (1980-1998) for inner city teenagers. Mr. Fleming received a full scholarship to Wilberforce University in Ohio through the support of BCN. Once he received his Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Social Service, he returned to Nashville and became the Director of BCN's Youth Programs and Bethlehem Centers' Family Resource Center. In his tenure at BCN, he has worked as the Assistant Director and Supervisor of BCN's nationally accredited Child Development Program and hired and managed staff for BCN's Vocational Success Institute (VCI). Mr. Fleming is a certified prevention specialist through the Tennessee Certification Board, the Nashville Youth Council, the North Nashville Chamber, FastTrac and Top Stars. He is also a member of the Executive Council for TN Department of Health's Prevention Advisory Commission, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Validator, the United Way's Family Resource Center Task Force, The Pearl-Cohn High School Alumni Association,Wilberforce University Alumni Association and Healing Trust's Executive Peer Circle. | |
