Description
Portara's 2018/19 concert series builds upon its deep collaborative spirit and mission to bring new works to Middle Tennessee. The Fall 2018 concert, "Mercy," explored the concept of mercy in an often unforgiving world. The ensemble partnered with Project Return which is dedicated to giving a successful new beginning to the formerly incarcerated. The Portara Winter concert, "The Longest Night", is a multidisciplinary and multicultural celebration of the winter solstice. It brings together some of Nashville's most acclaimed artists. In February 2019, Portara Ensemble presented a night with Darrell Grant and friends performing "Step by Step: The Ruby Bridges Suite" featuring the TSU Meistersingers and benefiting the W. O. Smith Community Music School. In March 2019, Portara will participate in Nashville's 13th Annual BACHanalia.Portara will give its spring concert, "Shadow and Light: An Alzheimer's Journey" in June 2019 at Christ Church Cathedral with proceeds benefitting The Alzheimer's Association of Middle TN.
