CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
There are a few things that I believe are necessary for a successful organization. 1) Involve intelligent, dedicated, staff, both paid and volunteer, 2) Clearly communicate the goals to be accomplished and the role that each person plays, 3) Establish and communicate the values that guide the organization, 4) Provide access to all necessary information 5) Get out of the way and let people do their jobs, 6) Thank them when they are successful. We have done a pretty good job with most of these, especially involving good people and establishing values to guide our actions. We have a tremendously talented management team that is dedicated to our mission. We survey our staff on a regular basis and over 90% of our staff are very pleased with the mission of S.A.C. They believe in what we are doing and that translates into people who want to serve. We have defined the values of the organization and we use them as our roadmap to how we want to reach our goals. Our values are: Compassion, Connectedness, Dedication, Empowerment, and Respect. We try to follow these values in how we work with each other, how we work with our clients, and how we work with our volunteers. It is important to get where we want to go, but it is equally important how we get there. With a very focused mission I have found that our board and volunteers bring the same passion and dedication as our paid staff. This generates teamwork and a strong desire to do what they can to support SAC's mission. |
