Mission

LEAD Public Schools prepares all of our students with the knowledge and skills to succeed in college and in life.

Background

Since 2007, LEAD has grown to include six schools -- middle and high schools --- serving more than 2,400 students. Our network has transformed outcomes for students at both our neighborhood and open-enrollment schools through effective classroom instruction provided in concert with social and emotional support for students and families and individualized assistance for teachers. LEAD has realized faster student academic growth than our peers across the state and retained high-performing teachers as a result.

LEAD Public Schools has experienced successful academic outcomes as we serve populations that face glaring challenges:
75% Economically Disadvantaged
30% English Language Learners
12% Exceptional Education (Students with disabilities)

LEAD predominantly serves students of color and low-income students:
Hispanic (53%), Black (29%), White/ (13%), Asian (3%), Students identifying with two or more races (1.6%), American Indian (0.8%)

Impact

LEAD Public Schools' reach extends to not only the 2,400 students we serve, but also their families and communities across the Metropolitan Nashville/Davidson County area from North Nashville to Downtown and Southeast Nashville. Students from all walks of life and from more than 20 countries and languages are represented across the LEAD network.

We believe all children deserve a high-quality education that prepares them to excel in college or career - no matter their zip code. We carefully cultivate an environment, through our people and our schools, that ensures each of our students has access to the tools and resources required to put them on a pathway to success. Whether our students decide to attend a four-year university, a two-year certificate program, or enter the workforce, they graduate from LEAD prepared to pursue the future of their choosing. This model is guided by shared Ethos of achieving the mission by being: Committed, Courageous, Disciplined, Self-Reliant, and of Service to Others .

CEO Statement

We are making strategic investments in initiatives to achieve great student outcomes. We are creating a culture of excellence where students and teacher alike can thrive. We are establishing LEAD as the best place to work in the city because teachers should be valued like the true professionals they are. These decisions and investments are enabling us to be bold
and innovative in how we serve our students, teachers and families. Over time, LEAD's students, staff and families will transform educational expectations, creating a national model for excellence in urban education and neighborhood redevelopment.

Board Chair Statement

From its inception, LEAD Public Schools has had a dedicated group of Board members who have a passionate belief in the mission and core values of the school. These Board members have dedicated a considerable amount of time to ensure the success of our network of schools. There is one vision, to provide the students of LEAD Public Schools with an excellent education and with opportunities to attend college and go into a career of their choosing. Our litmus test for every decision must always be: "Is this the best thing for our students?"

At LEAD, our financial model is straightforward - we efficiently sustain our core operations with the per pupil funding we receive from the state. Your support helps us address the needs of our students, families and schools beyond what the per pupil funding we receive can support.
