Mission

One Generation Away is a nonprofit organization whose mission is sharing hope, honor, and dignity through food. The organization's vision is to wipe hunger off the face of America by teaching people to love one another through service.

One Generation Away distributes healthy foods to families that currently do not have adequate access to food due to economic, social, and physical barriers.

Background

OneGenAway was birthed from the dream that we can eliminate poverty, denominationalism, and racism in our lifetime, by all working together to serve others. We believe there is a mission field right outside our front door and that we will reach people lovingly through service. OneGenAway is dedicated to providing emergency food service to those in need through its mobile food pantry and local partnerships. Much of this food is acquired by rescuing surplus food daily from grocery stores, restaurants, caterers, and farms.

Impact

How we use our money:
About 96 cents on the dollar goes directly into our service of the community. We run as lean as we can with a small and efficient team and with community partnerships.
Our resource network allows us to turn every dollar donated into $16 of retail food. We are always looking for ways to further stretch every dollar to better serve our community.

2021 Accomplishments:
OneGenAway provided 4.2 million pounds of food (about 3.5 million meals) to individuals and families in need throughout Middle Tennessee, North Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle.

2022 Accomplishments:
OneGenAway rescued 1.9 million pounds of food and distributed 3.6 million pounds of food throughout Middle Tennessee, North Alabama, and the Florida panhandle.

2023 Accomplishements:
OneGenAway hired new staff members in Tennessee, Alabama and Florida, and distributed over 7 million pounds of food.

2024 Projection:
We plan to replicate our model into two new states.
