Description
Backfield in Motion's (BIM) Extended Learning Program employs state certified Reading Specialists, Math (STEM) Instructors, and Special Education teachers to provide tutoring, homework help, and family literacy intervention for one-hour following the regular school day. Individualized accommodations are be made for special education students, such as one-on-one tutoring in R/LA's and Math instruction. The teachers record student data using it to adjust instruction from individual benchmark assessments and lesson plans preparing students for state assessments. Services for the 2019-2020 school year will be held at the following sites. Amqui Elementary, Nashville Classical Academy, Bellshire Elementary, John Early Middle School, Joelton Middle School, and at the Isaac Litton Alumni Center. BIM will serve more than 200 students this next year from first through twelfth grades. In addition, we provide an Adult Basic Education (HiSET) program at the Isaac Litton Alumni Center for the parents of our students and other adults in the community. .

Description
Backfield in Motion's Extended Learning Program provides tutoring and mentoring five days per week beyond regular school hours year round. The program includes a summer literacy program, The Extra Point Academy (EPA). The EPA is a summer academic enrichment program held for four weeks in June. The summer academy builds literacy and mathematic competency skills. EPA also incorporates computer literacy, STEM activities, life-skills development and character education in the program to build long-term success.

Our Strategic Directives BIM will employ evidence-based practice across our entire extended learning program. * BIM will increase program collaborations (internal and external to the organization). * BIM will position itself as a primary community resource for at-risk young men in MNPS. BIM will become a primary partner for MNPS's extended learning community. BIM will advocate for public incentives and partnerships that are in the best interest of our students and community stakeholders.BIM programs will expand beyond the northern part of Davidson County, to include meeting demand for high, quality programming. BIM will pursue shared training opportunities with other agencies and be a leader in collaborative training with other extended learning programs. BIM will become a center for learning and teaching by providing training and internship opportunities for teachers and parents in urban settings. BIM will further develop an influential and connected Board of Directors and Advisory Council. BIM will grow revenue to support mission-centric program needs.
