Description
Urban Green Lab's Classrooms Division is all about turning classrooms into spaces for exploring and demonstrating sustainable living early in life. Using standards-aligned curricula, Classrooms trains teachers and education professionals how to integrate sustainable living principles and strategies into their classrooms year-round and career-long, reaching thousands of future stewards. Our flagship program is Sustainable Classrooms, a partnership with the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation and Vanderbilt's Peabody College of Education.

Urban Green Lab's Households Division trains professionals at the neighborhood level to create sustainable living education systems that inspire residents and families to be part of the solution. Through advising leaders of neighborhood associations, faith communities, HOAs, entertainment venues, and fairs and festivals how to make sustainable living a thread in their programming, we can reach thousands of residents who need access to information and best practices. Our Mobile Lab -- or "classroom on wheels" -- is one of our best examples.

Description
Because of how important and interconnected the issue of food waste is to all areas of sustainable living, Urban Green Lab leads a special project on food waste prevention, which happens to also intersect with all our core divisions -- Classrooms, Households, and Workplaces. Through food waste, we highlight best practices in food waste reduction, recycling, and rescue by way of our leadership in the Nashville Food Waste Initiative, a special program with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and a pilot composting project with our local Kroger headquarters.
