Description
A CASA volunteer is appointed by the Court to speak with all the parties involved in a child's case, review all school, medical and criminal records. The volunteer advocate compiles their findings in a written report to the Court outlining their involvement with the family and factual information obtained. The CASA's report also includes concerns that the volunteer may have after completing their investigation and speaking with the parties. The volunteer does not side with any one party; CASA's job is to help determine the best interests of the child.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

Sumner County CASA served 142 children with 35 CASA volunteers last year. Our program has some amazing volunteer advocates and watching them help children is an awesome privilege. As a volunteer program our continued challenges are recruiting and replenishing the volunteer pool, encouraging and supporting our active volunteers so that they do not lose hope or resign during a long case, and continue to raise funds to support additional staff and volunteers. Sumner County CASA continues to work diligently and strategically to serve more children, train more volunteers and find new ways to meet the growing need of the most vulnerable. Our goal is that children are placed in safe, permanent homes, free from abuse.
