Executive Director

Executive Director Ms. Sue Buchholtz MBA
E-mail sue.buchholtz@evergreenls.org
Term Start September 2011
Sue's Experience: 36 years in nonprofit, executive level administration, including specialization in Board Governance, Social Enterprises, Senior/Elderly Services, Domestic Violence, Individuals with Intellectual and Development Disabilities, and American Red Cross National Education Director. Ms. Buchholtz comes to Evergreen with a proven record of accomplishments in the field of developmental disabilities. She describes herself as a "transformational" leader and is charged with leading our organization into the future. Ms. Buchholtz came to us from PARC, located in St. Petersburg, Florida. PARC serves approximately 1,000 children and adults with disabilities. Before her position at PARC, Ms. Buchholtz held positions for a variety of nonprofit organizations including the American Red Cross, SENIORS FIRST and The Spring of Tampa Bay. Under Ms. Buchholtz' tenure, PARC experienced increased entrepreneurial opportunities, including expanded art programs, production contracts for PARC's assembly and packaging work program and collaborations to create PARC products for sale in the mainstream marketplace. During Sue's tenure, PARC took steps to remove the word "retarded" from their legal name, and it is this accomplishment is the most significant in Ms. Buchholtz' eyes. "As I leave to take on new challenges, the one thing I will be proud to define my legacy at PARC is changing that word. It is a poignant and relevant change to show our respect and admiration for the individuals we support here at PARC and in our community," says Buchholtz, 'As I leave the state for a new role, I look forward to hearing about PARC continuing to make historical advancements for children and adults with developmental disabilities." Ms. Buchholtz graduated with an MBA from the Crummer Graduate School at Rollins College. She is a member of the prestigious Blue Ridge Institute and the Social Enterprise Alliance for which she began the Tampa Bay Chapter. Ms. Buchholtz has received significant recognition for her work with PARC. She was recently named The Able Trust's Dr. George L. Spelios Leadership Award Winner. The Spelios Leadership Award is an honor which recognizes outstanding leadership and advocacy efforts in the area of employment for Florida citizens with disabilities.
