| Laura's Experience: Laura Brown serves as TALS' Executive Director. For the past three years, she was the Senior Deputy Director of Client Services at Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands. Prior to working with LAS, she worked for the State of Tennessee at the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability (TCAD) as General Counsel as well as the State Legal Assistance Developer and Elder Rights director. She holds a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law, a Master of Arts in Civic Leadership from Lipscomb University and a Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Ms. Brown is currently enrolled as a doctoral candidate in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga PhD program in Learning and Leadership (Public Policy). Ms. Brown has both professional and personal experience protecting and advocating for the rights of elders and vulnerable adults. Ms. Brown is an experienced litigator and she began her career as a medical malpractice defense attorney in Chattanooga, TN. She is also a Rule 31 trained mediator. |
