| Charles's Experience: Mr. Friedman began his education career in Philadelphia with Teach For America. As a first year teacher, he led his students to more than two years of growth within a single year on externally validated national reading and math assessments. After his TFA commitment ended, he joined the organization's staff and managed the training of forty humanities teachers during the school year and the summer school program of Frankford High School, the city's largest comprehensive high school, as part of Teach For America's Philadelphia Summer Institute. In 2011, Mr. Friedman was accepted into the prestigious Building Excellent Schools Fellowship, where he researched, studied and learned best practices used by the highest-performing schools and school leaders in the nation. Mr. Friedman, an East Nashville resident since moving to Tennessee, led the design and proposal of Nashville Classical and serves as its Executive Director. Mr. Friedman is an honors graduate of Yale University and received a Master's Degree in Urban Education from the University of Pennsylvania. |
