To create dream bedroom makeovers for children battling cancer.

Background

We provide bedroom makeovers for children between the ages 2-19 who are suffering from cancer,.

Impact

Our network of chapters created over 1275 rooms to date. We developed the scale and resources to support an integrated media and communications strategy involving both website and mainstream social media channels. Our challenges and goals for 2021 include 111 rooms, completion of a comprehensive revision to our policies and procedures to reflect our focused mission. We have challenged ourselves to build a sustainable and viable organization focused on 'Changing Children's Lives One Bedroom at a Time'.

Needs

Our most pressing needs are funding to support our room builds; volunteers (corporate/civic/community) to donate time, talent and treasure help us create these rooms;

CEO Statement

We change lives: we complete dream room makeovers for dependent children ages 2-19 with documented illness of cancer.. We build bedrooms: we only do bedrooms. Rooms where children sleep but also rest, play and spend time away from the challenges of their illness. A place where they can heal and find peace. We will continue to have a personal connection with our families: we will maintain a high touch, high impact organization that measures success by the quantity and the quality of the experience.

We are positioning Special Spaces as a financially strong, efficient, and sustainable organization with a focused mission delivered by dedicated volunteer directors to families facing the challenges of cancer.

We currently have 16 chapters located in the Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin. Our national office is located in Knoxville, Tennessee.
