Mission

Our mission is to rescue as many cats and kittens from the streets and high-kill animal shelters in the Middle Tennessee area and then adopt them into loving forever homes. All of the cats who come through our program are spayed or neutered, tested for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and Feline Leukemia Virus, and vaccinated before they are placed up for adoption.

Background

Nashville Cat Rescue began in 2005 with the sole purpose of rescuing cats and kittens from off the streets and from high-kill shelters and then adopting them into loving homes. We believe in spaying and neutering before adopting our cats out, and we only adopt out to indoor-only, no-declaw homes. Follow-ups are done on our adopted cats 2-3 weeks after the adoption date, and we pride ourselves on being knowledgeable about our cats so that we can assist adopters with any questions they have.

Impact

Accomplishments: In May 2019, we celebrated 10,000 adoptions since our inception in 2005. In 2018, we hit an all-time record for yearly adoption totals (1,238), partnered with Mewsic Kitty Cafe to open the first Cat Cafe in Tennessee, and onboarded more than 30 new fosters and volunteers. These are all incredible milestones, particularly for an all-volunteer organization. In the upcoming year, fundraising will be an important goal, as our vetting costs have skyrocketed. We're also hoping to launch a new website and find another veterinary partner to help with the increased volume of cats and kittens we've taken on.

Needs

1. Funding for spay/neuter surgeries. 2. Additional veterinary partners willing to work with our limited funds. 3. Foster homes for our cats and kittens. 4. Website overhaul. 5. Volunteers for our adoption centers.
