Mission
From Your Father is a nonprofit that empowers father-absent households to thrive by delivering emergency supplies, financial support, and educational resources through the love of God.
Background
From Your Father was started in 2015 by Deja Hagewood, who has the mission to provide the critical, yet un-met resources to father-absent families and low-income children in Middle Tennessee. Joined by co-founder Shannon Holt, with the goal of providing the basic necessities and support that each child deserves and parent needs to thrive.
From Your Father believes that children in father-absent homes easily become innocent victims of poverty. Adults and children in single-parent households are at a higher risk for adverse health effects, such as emotional and behavioral problems, compared to their peers. Consequently, these children experience an increased risk of morbidity and mortality of all causes. Similarly, single parents suffer from lower perceived health and a higher risk of mortality. We aim to provide the support that these families need such as food, laundry detergent, diapers, shoes, formula, school supplies, educational opportunities and emotional health resources.
When mothers are struggling to provide for their children they apply for our program and receive resources delivered to their doorsteps every month.
We have recently provided a box that included diapers,wipes, food and laundry detergent to a new mom without transportation. Without this box this family would have struggled to find transportation to pick up the things she needed for her and her baby to survive. Single mothers are faced with these situations every day while trying to provide for their children with no support. From Your Father has made it our mission to be the support that families in our communities need.
Impact
From Your Father has made some significant impact in the community through the innovative Go-Love program. From Your Father has been delivering boxed resources to the doorsteps of families in Nashville as well as many rural counties in TN. We distribute these items to families completely hands-free and have been able to provide resources during the pandemic without any interruption in services. From Your Father has been able to provide access to emotional and mental health resources to the mothers in our programs creating healthier homes and happier children. We have been able to establish a significant referral base from the Juvenile Court Nashville allowing us to provide support to underserved families. Additionally, we have been able to establish a partnership with local non-profit Hope Station providing emergency rental and utility assistance to families in our programs. We plan to establish relationships with other partner organizations and provide remote locations in which our resource boxes can be accessed by families in immediate need. From Your Father aims to serve more families and serve each family better over the next three to five years.
Needs
We need Donations in order to Deliver! You can host a donation drive at your company, school, or group. Then spread the word and get your friends to donate. For your birthday you can- get involved and do something really impactful! Send invites to family and friends and spend your special day delivering boxes to families in your community!

Areas Served
From Your Father serves father-absent families throughout middle Tennessee. Our programs were designed to be innovative and provide us the ability to serve families located in Murfreesboro, Smyrna, Hendersonville, Clarksville, and Nashville! Many of our referrals come from Nashville agencies, resulting in the majority of our clients being in the Nashville area.
