Mission

The purpose of Music City Disc Golf is to promote the growth and development of disc golf in local communities by educating others about the many health benefits of playing an active outdoor sport.

Background

Music City Disc Golf was established in 2012 by a passionate group of disc golfers who wanted to organize and grow disc golf in Nashville and the state of Tennessee. We have a thriving organization with several hundred members that play events across Nashville and the United States. It is open to everyone and exists to:-hold free clinics that can educate others on how to play disc golf and get involved in outdoor sport-develop and install new courses in local parks and help maintain courses all ready established-make local communities and governments of the physical and mental health benefits of playing disc golf -set up a competitive disc golf league that is fair and fun for all members of all skill levels-establish a positive relationship with surrounding community including non-disc golfers by maintaining appropriate etiquette, safety, and good sportsmanship-promote disc golf tournaments and other leagues and clubs throughout Tennessee -raise money to support this charity and to give back to other disc golf and other community charities

Impact

Accomplishments 2018-set up a well-run disc golf league with several hundred members including a championship-help develop and run the second largest disc golf event in Tennessee history at 2018 Music City Open-run multiple clinics and community outreach events to teach beginners and children how to play disc golf Goals 2019-expand the Music City Open in 2019 to the largest disc golf event in Tennessee and provide an opportunity to showcase professional and amateur disc golf nationwide-raise money to give back to disc golf and other community charities-bring increased awareness of disc golf to Nashville and surrounding community

Needs

1. Raise funds to help run and promote disc golf. Major disc golf tournaments can cost $15,000 to $20,000 at a minimum.2. Increase membership in Music City Disc Golf and volunteer base needed to run tournaments.3. Establish a presence with non-profit organizations to help Music City Disc Golf link up with potential donors.
