Mission

The Pregnancy Care Center empowers individuals to make life-affirming decisions through education, counseling and compassionate care based on the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Background

A year of prompting from our Lord, beginning in 2006, encouraged individuals in the community to serve together as a steering committee for a pregnancy center. In 2007 thru 2008, seeking guidance from Care Net, a national pregnancy care organization that specializes in organizational and operational resources, assessment surveys were conducted, initial funding was raised, a location for the Center was obtained and awareness of the Center was established. After these 2 years of fervent prayer and careful strategic planning, the Pregnancy Care Center opened its doors for clients in May of 2009. An experienced Executive Director was hired, volunteers were trained and clients began to be served. Since 2009 an additional staff members have been hired, relationships have been made with community and civic organizations in addition to numerous local churches. We have launched an interactive website and formed Facebook and Instagram pages to keep up with social networking. Serving over 1,000 clients since opening our doors, the Pregnancy Care Center continues to grow and serve the community in offering free and confidential services that include pregnancy test, peer counseling, referrals, material assistance, pre-natal and parenting classes and post-abortion counseling.

Impact

First, and most importantly, more women than ever are choosing to come to the Pregnancy Care Center to find love and hope during a difficult time in their lives. Not only are we here to assist those we see with life choices, we are also committed to sharing the love of Jesus Christ with each person who comes in our door. We continue to experience exponential growth each year. We are teaching Sexual Risk Avoidance classes in several local public high schools in Wilson and Davidson Counties. The 2 day course includes information on pregnancy, abortion, and adoption as well as education on STIs and healthy relationships. We are preparing to expand to even more high schools in the area. We offer limited ultrasounds through our partnership with another pregnancy center and a mobile ultrasound bus. We are continually working to strategically reach our target population in the area so that we are the first place someone facing an unplanned pregnancy thinks of. We are continually adding new volunteers, and hiring new staff as needed. We are in the beginning stages of planning for a 2nd location in the Lebanon, TN area.

Needs

We need more volunteers on a regular, weekly basis to meet with the demands of the center's growth. Volunteers process donations, help clients shop, assist with various office duties, and are peer counselors to clients. $0 We will soon need to hire another staff member to work in client services. Approximately $20,000 per year. We are in the beginning stages of planning to open a 2nd location in the Lebanon, TN area, probably 2 days a week in the beginning. This would involve a leased space, office furnishings and equipment, staff and volunteers. Estimated at $9,300/month for everything involved.

CEO Statement

The primary focus of the Pregnancy Care Center (PCC) is to serve women and families experiencing an unplanned or crisis pregnancy. We strive to meet our clients where they are in their time of need with services that minister to their emotional, spiritual, and practical needs. We hope to make an impact in the community, and in individual lives, by providing a safe, caring, and confidential environment for individuals to receive accurate information about their options as well as the emotional and practical support they need while facing the difficult circumstances of an unplanned pregnancy. The PCC will seek to meet the needs of our clients by providing ongoing compassionate and caring support, peer counseling, education on abortion risks and procedures, information on adoption and parenting, material assistance, parenting and life-skills training, mentoring, abstinence education, post-abortion counseling, Bible studies, evangelism, and referrals. The PCC does not perform or refer for abortion. It is our desire that by providing these services individuals will feel empowered to continue their pregnancies to term knowing that the PCC will be walking with them through each step of the journey. Our goal is that the PCC would be the first choice in our community for anyone experiencing an unplanned or crisis pregnancy.
