Mission

We exist to empower our diverse community to live purposeful, inspired lives. Valor is a 3-school charter management organization (CMO) based in Nashville, Tenn. It currently operates three public charter schools serving grades 5-12 with approximately 1875 students.

Background

Valor's mission is "we exist to empower our diverse community to live inspired, purposeful lives".

Impact

1. The TDOE has a new A-F school accountability system to measure school performance. Valor's three schools are among the five MNPS schools and the only charter school network in the state to have earned the highest possible score (5/5) on all four indicators of Academic Achievement, Academic Growth, Growth of Highest-Need Students, and College & Career Readiness.

2. In the 2022-23 school year, our high school students achieved a Composite ACT score that ranked in the 99th percentile among open enrollment high schools in Tennessee.

3. Named the #1 Best Charter High School in TN for Niche's 2024 Best K-12 Schools.

4. VCP received the AP School Honor Roll's Platinum recognition, the highest possible rating based on the Class of 2023's performance in the AP program.

5. All 3 campuses received Reward School recognition from the TDOE during the 2021-22 school year.

Needs

We have a need to improve both our athletic programming and our fine arts programming, which is our focus for the Big Payback this year.

We are proud that Valor, with approximately 55% of our scholars qualifying for Free and Reduced lunch, and 14% of our students qualifying for special needs, competes academically with the very best schools in the state of Tennessee. The combination of a strong academic program and a strong SEL program, executed in a diverse community, is really powerful and has a big impact on our kid's life trajectories."
