Mission

NCJW is a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children and families by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.

Background

Having served Nashville and Middle Tennessee for over 120 years, NCJW, Nashville Section has shaped the face of our community. Its long history of service has impacted tens of thousands of Nashville lives through the creation and support of other nonprofits and programs within those organizations. Its funding through dues, contributions and gifts, corporate grants and bequests has allowed seniors to travel unheeded, children to navigate the foster care system with support, families in need to make their food budget last, teens to be better educated about their futures, cancer survivors support during their treatment, recovering moms better chances to cope with their dependencies, worthy students to attend college, children attending an abuse clinic healthy snacks, and Vanderbilt students the opportunity to break bread together with their community.

Impact

1. Rewritten its bylaws.2. Formed a new board.3. Built a new website and donor database.4. Spearheaded an end of year fundraising effort. 5. Continue to support our community projects.

Needs

1. Continue to financially support its ten major Nashville area projects. 2. Support staffing and organizational needs. 3. Recruit volunteers to support each one of the projects. 4. Recruit committee chairs to support its projects. 5. Continue to grow membership. 6. Study and survey the need for new projects appropriate to its mission.

NCJW Nashville Section has a storied past and an even brighter future. Its supporters continue to build a kinder, gentler Nashville, nation, and world.
