Mission

The Music City Chorus is a brotherhood of singers committed to enriching our community through the joyous pursuit of musical excellence in the barbershop style. Donated funds will support our two outreach initiatives: 1) Accappellooza 2022, an a cappella festival for area high school and university singers (Fall 2022), and 2) the Music City Chorus Roadshow, an opportunity to provide-for free-our two-hour Spring 2023 show in a community in Middle Tennessee that doesn't have regular opportunities for high level vocal music

Background

Established in 1948, the Music City Chorus has held weekly chorus rehearsals for 74 years, focusing on creating captivating performances for world-wide audiences. The Music City Chorus specializes in four-part close harmony, creative, moving performances, and exciting, healthy singing. Led by Director Dusty Schleier and Associate Director Rick Spencer, the chorus is an annual favorite at international chorus competitions, earning awards for excellence and artistry.

Impact

Beyond musical excellence, the Music City Chorus is focused on community outreach and bringing their love of song to new audiences. The chorus frequently shares the stage with other local a cappella ensembles, seeking to create deeper ties to the Tennessee choral community.

The Music City Chorus also gives home to the Nashville Music Medics, a group of singers from the chorus who seek to spread joy to local children's hospitals to patients and their families by sharing inspiring songs. Their goal is to change the world one smile at a time.

Needs

The chorus has two fundraising needs:

1) funds for an a cappella festival, Acappellooza held in October 2022. This festival will unite over 200 students from area high schools and universities, allowing them to showcase their abilities with their peers. A free event for participants, Acappellooza will culminate with a performance from an internationally-acclaimed barbershop quartet. Cost: $10,000.

2) funds to take an evening of a cappella to Middle Tennessee towns outside of the metro Nashville area that don't regularly pay host high level artistic performances in their communities. The Music City Chorus Roadshow will feature two hours of solid music entertainment from the Music City Chorus and chapter quartets. The Spring 2023 concert will be free to local residents. Cost: $10,000.
