We believe that kids have a unique ability to speak into each other's lives, and in doing so, develop confidence in knowing that they have something to offer others. Our leaders serve and grow by co-facilitating younger counseling groups and speaking in classes taught by our counselors to educate the community on the challenges of being a child and adolescent today. High school age clients that are making good choices and are good role models are also asked to be leaders at our younger summer sessions. These leaders have the opportunity to give out of the abundance that they have received from being involved at Daystar. Many of these students return in the school year to help co-facilitate younger groups and in latter summers as full time summer staff interns.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

Daystar has seen consistent increase in clients for the past several years. We must implement creative fundraising efforts to continue counseling during a slower period of giving. We must also be good stewards of the money that we are given, thus being very intentional where every dollar goes. To continue to offers services regardless of the clients ability to pay, it is important that we are out in the community growing our client and donor base. We accomplish this through three of Daystar's published authors speaking at events at public and private schools and churches thoughout the Middle Tennessee community. In order to continue to provide quality individual and group counseling to our clients, we have our counselors participate in continuing education. We also continue to know and care for our clients by helping them through individual counseling and if desired by placing them in groups. Children and adolescents benefit tremendously from intentional time of encouragement and growth with their peers. We believe it is most effective to provide both. We annually use measurable expected outcomes, ie. couneslors assesing their notes and client progress, to assess our programs. Lastly, we have hired a new counselor in order to meet the growing demand.
