Amputee Blade Runners (ABR) provides running and/or sport specific legs at no charge to active amputees. ABR is able to provide this care to approximately 25-30 new recipients each year in addition to continuing to provide care for a growing cadre of established recipients. ABR makes a 5 year commitment to amputees who are children and 2 year commitments to amputees who are adults. Each commitment may be renewed at the end of the term if desired by all parties. Children in particular require frequent modifications as they grow.

Amputee Blade Runners goes beyond the direct services it provides to amputees. ABR team members frequently provide education to those within the industry in an effort to improve care for amputees. This training sessions take on various forms, including weekend/week long training programs for prosthetists/technicians, and lectures for physical therapy and engineering students, as well as running clinics with practitioners, manufacturers, amputees, and their families. ABR is beginning to develop a series of educational videos for not only ABR athletes, but prosthetists and patients alike across the country who hunger for more knowledge about how to enable adaptive athletes to perform at their highest levels.
