Description
Tennessee Alliance for Kids (TAK) bridges the gap between the foster care system and the community by providing critical needs to children at risk of coming into foster, those in care and youth aging out. When social workers identify the critical needs of children, TAK meets those needs through tangible items we call FosterLove. These items include but are not limited to beds, clothing, car seats, pack 'n plays, hygiene items, diapers, formula, school supplies and food. Through the FosterLove Program, TAK provides TAK PAKS -backpacks filled with essential and comfort items for children entering foster care.
Program Successes
Since 2020, TAK has served more than 1,500 children and families through emergent needs and special events by providing more than 2,000 items.

Short-term Success
By providing FosterLove items to children and youth in the foster care community, Tennessee Alliance for Kids (TAK) aims to keep families together which can help reduce trauma, assist foster families caring for children in our community, offer hope and love to children enduring a very difficult time and support young adults ages 18-21 living on their own, working and enrolled in school.
Program Success Monitored By
We have a submission form on our website that the agencies we serve fill out for requests. This form allows us to track how many children are served, their ages, the counties they reside in, how many items are purchased or given through donations and the primary purpose this need is assisting (foster family, family reunifying, keep the child safe, preserve placement, improve child's wellbeing, Extension of Foster Care youth). We also track the number of TAK PAKS donated to TAK and distributed by TAK. The agencies we serve send us reports or testimonies of how our services helped.

During this time of uncertainty their first foster home usually is not their last home.
