Description
Our community programs provide space people, especially women, gather to explore and awaken the strength of their voices, experiences, and creativity to effect positive change in their communities and for themselves. The Center collaborates with key partners to provide respite and retreat for those doing justice work; develop women's leadership capacity in a way that is collaborative, inter-generational, and transformative; nurture creativity through new ways of seeing the world; and stimulate intellectual curiosity to deepen awareness around issues of injustice. Examples include: Storylines - a monthly book club, Woman to Woman - a peer mentoring & leadership development program for women, a partnership with Vanderbilt Divinity School, Scholastica - a monthly lunch gathering for women in ministry, a partnership with Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Poet's Corner - a monthly poetry reading, Tuesdays in the Chapel & Vespers and All That Jazz - weekly contemplative services held in our historic Wightman Chapel, the Ina Corinne Brown Lecture - a lecture series that honors women who work for racial justice in the U.S. South, and other lectures, workshops, and retreats.
