Description
Our individualized and trauma-informed Artist Collective program allows Artists experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity to increase economic mobility by creating art, learning skills, building relationships, and earning income through creative endeavors like art sales, reproductions, performances, teaching artist stipends, and intellectual property licenses. We provide our Artists access to a free studio space, art supplies, exhibition opportunities, educational workshops, and transportation. The Artists we serve are currently or formerly unhoused adults with an artistic background or passion and share a variety of intersecting underrepresented identities including different gender orientations, disabilities, races/ nationalities, education levels, religions, and more. We recruit Artists by establishing collaborative relationships with local agencies that serve similar populations.

Long-term Success
The goal of our Artist Collective Program is to increase accessibility to creative non-traditional forms of employment, which counteracts employment barriers and rising housing costs. Participants earn income through their creative talent by producing marketable art, gaining artistic and entrepreneurial skills, and publicly displaying their work so they can increase their financial independence. Since 2014, Daybreak has served more than 120 artists and paid out almost $80,000 to artists impacted by homelessness and housing insecurity in Nashville, TN.
Short-term Success
Through short-term engagement in the Artist Collective program, Daybreak artists access the space and supplies to create and produce marketable art, increase their artistic and job skills, gain exposure to career opportunities in the arts, publicly display and receive recognition for their art.
Program Success Monitored By
We use a variety of measurement tools to evaluate our outcomes. Our Artist Application collects basic background information and becomes the baseline to measure our clients' and program's success. With monthly self-assessment surveys, artists report progress in traditional employment, transportation, housing, and more. Artists also set artwork sales goals and rate their level of confidence in selling artwork. Artists receive quarterly sales reports with their total art sales, number of pieces sold, and price points so they can track their growth. Each quarter our artist Manager reviews artists' goals to provide feedback and advice, and evaluates the financial impact of earning creative income through Daybreak. Annually, we evaluate our collective art sales and track metrics in art production, art education, and art exhibition. We keep information that we gather from these measurements up-to-date to provide an accurate assessment of how our programs are performing.

Description
Our Shared Walls Art Program (SWAP) helps make art ownership more accessible for Nashvillians through a sponsorship which provides an art piece to both a sponsor and a low-income individual or family moving into affordable housing provided by Urban Housing Solutions (UHS). SWAP also provides income, resources, and confidence to artists impacted by homelessness in our Artist Collective Program, while also generating earned income for the programming. We aim SWAP and the sponsored original art pieces to inspire a community of art appreciators and spur on new collectors.
