Description
Luke 14:12's G.R.O.W Program provides employment, job skills and job training to the homeless and the working poor. All of Luke 14:12's staff members, except for the Executive Director, have struggled with chronic homelessness. By providing job skills, training and eventually professional references, Luke 14:12 will assist the employees enrolled in this program to find additional employment. Luke 14:12 hopes the G.R.O.W. program will help these employees find sustainable employment and stop the cycle of homelessness.

Luke 14:12 soup kitchen has been in operation since 1983 serving hot, nutritious, meat-and-three type meals to Nashville's hungry, homeless and working poor. Luke 14:12 serves anyone who is hungry or homeless out of the dining room of Room In The Inn located at 705 Drexel Street. Luke 14:12 serves meals to an average of 250 people every Monday, Tuesday, Friday and every other Wednesday - serving over 43,000 meals annually.

| Luke 14:12 provides quality food to anyone who is hungry, but Luke 14:12 also provides job training and employment to those who have struggled with chronic homelessness. We hope that by providing employment for those struggling with chronic homelessness through the G.R.O.W. Program, Luke 14:12 can help institute hope, pride and marketable job skills to that individual. We presently employ 5 individuals who have struggled with chronic homelessness - because of physical or mental health issues, lack of education or other issues. Through the G.R.O.W. Luke 14:12 is able to provide them a valuable skills, as well as increase their self-worth. It is our hope that they will branch out from us and take these skills to another workplace. COVID-19 UPDATE: We at Luke 14:12 are proud to have committed to paying our staff during Covid-19 so that we can protect them from economic uncertainty and becoming homeless themselves. During the Covid-19 Crisis Luke 14:12 has continued to feed the homeless in a modified fashion to protect our guests, our volunteers and our staff. |
