Description
At its meeting on March 3, 2015, the Metro Parks Board officially approved the establishment of the Friends of Kellytown, Inc., as an official volunteer support group to Metro Parks. The Friends of Kellytown is now working with Metro Parks.in developing and maintaining the site as an outdoor educational area to teach children and adults about the Mississippian culture that existed at the site prior to 1450 AD. The Friends group will also assist in developing walking trails that will eventually connect with any future Brentwood Green Ways trails.

| On March 3, 2015 the Metro Parks Board officially approved the establishment of the Friends of Kellytown , Inc., as an official support group to Metro Parks. Working closely with Metro Parks, Cultural Resource Analysis, Inc. (CRA) was hired to conduct radar penetration studies of the site and to do test digging. They began that work on June 22, 2015. The Friends have conducted analysis and provided it to Hodgson and Douglas who were commissioned to complete a Master Plan that includes interpretive exhibits for the education of all those who visit. The Master has been completed and has andbeen approve by Metro Parks Board.. The first phase will be implemented by the spring of 2021 |
