Description
Persist Nashville works to address the "leakiest" part of the high school to postsecondary pipeline-the summer after high school graduation. During this pivotal time, students have the least access to support. With high school counselors on summer break and having not yet matriculated to college, students are expected to lean on personal networks for "college knowledge." This expectation leaves students without college experience in their network to essentially "figure it out" alone. Our summer melt program uses text-based outreach and personalized responses to support students as they navigate the major college enrollment milestones, including registration, orientation and financial aid.

Description
Utilizing a three-pronged approach, Utilizing a three-pronged approach-coaching, community, and care-Persist Nashville works with students to build their "college knowledge" and navigate barriers that have the potential to derail their postsecondary aspirations.

Coaching
Students receive text-based outreach from a professional coach who supports their social-emotional needs, prompts them around campus-specific deadlines, and connects them to campus resources when barriers are encountered.

Community
Campus Leads play an integral role in the success of their peers by creating micro-communities on their campuses through monthly meals, study groups and other social events. Campus Leads enhance the work of our coaches and ensure that the needs of individual students are known while the needs of the larger community are being met.

Care
The Persist Fund provides up to $200 per academic year for each Persist Scholar to support immediate school-related needs.
