Description
Partner with another organization to establish Donnie's House, a therapeutic adult day program for young adults once they age out of public school. The Shelby Foundation would supplement the cost of the adult day program. Priority would be given to young adults that are not able to participate in employment opportunities due to their severe to profound mental and physical disabilities. This program would be structured to be an extension of the enhanced education program these young adults had received at Harris-Hillman Special Education School. Participants would receive speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and participate in activities in the community. This program will be designed to bring the community to the participants as well as take the participants out into the community.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

Our organization would like to grow our annual fund raising event by adding a concert in conjuction with the golf tournament and auction. We would like to expand the current event to cover two days and have a Celebrity Pro-AM, The Nashville Swing. The Nashville Metropolitan area is not meeting the needs of families/caregivers with severely handicapped children. There are no full time day programs the children can attend after graduation from Harris-Hillman Special Education School to prevent regression and help maintain skills. Parents/caregivers struggle to find care for their children so they can remain employed. Eventually, our organization would like to raise enough funds to help provide these programs to families in our communities.
