Description
The high school curriculum is based on the TN State curriculum standards for acquiring a regular diploma. BHA requires all graduating seniors to participate in a mandatory transition course which provides each senior with the necessary tools to successfully transition into college, the workplace and adult life. Instruction is provided in a multi-sensory environment addressing all learning styles and targeting each student's learning difference. Accommodations and modifications are made in the presentation and requirements for each student as determined by his/her learning difference. High school students are required to take all State of TN's mandated standardized tests, the PLAN and ACT.

Description
The curriculum offered at Benton Hall Academy in grades 3-8 is based on Tennessee State curriculum standards. Instruction is individualized in the areas of reading, math, language arts, science and social studies. Accommodations and modifications are made in the strategies for presentation and in requirements. For example, one student may be required to respond in paragraph form while another may respond verbally to test questions. The TCAP test is administered to students each spring. All students in grades 3-8 participate in art, music and physical education.

Each student entering Benton Hall Academy must present cognitive and academic scores from a psycho-educational evaluation and is also evaluated using a series of placement tests in order to ascertain instructional levels in reading, language, arts and math. Students in all grades receive instruction in a multi-sensory environment addressing all learning styles and targeting each student's learning difference.

The Benton Hall Academy athletic philosophy is an important component of the school's culture. We value every student and encourage them to make healthy life choices. By promoting an active lifestyle within an accepting environment, we have a no-cut policy for all our team sports. Our sports program enables all of our students to have healthy activities to establish a foundation to make healthy life choices.
