Description
Senior Center for the Arts/The Larry Keeton Theatre, a 'highly professional community theater,' produces five to six full scale musical productions each year in our 150 seat venue yearly. Our LKLIVE Music Series features local and regional artists, and we strive for two productions per season with our senior troupe, The Prime Time Players. SCA/TLKT offers The Keeton Kids Performing Arts summer camp for ages 7 - 12 every year and provides additional classes and events in performing arts throughout the season. SCA/TLKT provides subsidized tickets to students, seniors, actors, and underserved populations in our communities. Cast members and volunteers are recruited from all over Middle Tennessee. In 2014, we procured a full costume shop, and we continue to take steps to define and organize that avenue of our programming. SCA/TLKT also operates as a rental venue for parties and gatherings of all sorts.

Description
Senior Center for the Arts/The Larry Keeton Theatre provides theater camp for children ages 7-12 during the summer. Parents can choose one or two weeks for their child's experience, and placement in the children's ensemble for the summer production is included although not mandatory. Past successful and fun camps have been ANNIE 2018, Mary Poppins 2017, Thoroughly Modern Millie 2016, Suessical the Musical 2015, and The King and I in 2013. This diverse and inclusive program exposes camp participants to music, theater, and dance, as well as costume design, set design, and interactions with the seniors at FiftyForward Donelson Station. Each summer, the program assimilates the young campers into the adult production. Camp registration information can be found on www.thelarrykeetontheatre.org.or by calling 615.883.8375.

Description
The Prime Time Players is the Senior Center for the Arts/The Larry Keeton Theatre's over 50 performance group. We are currently on hiatus due to difficulties in procuring consistent participants. We are seeking additional funding to support this program so that we may contract a Director/Facilitator who can focus on recruitment and revamping creative activities. Rehearsals and performances for this fun troupe of senior actors is typically during the daytime to accommodate retired and senior lifestyles.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

The SCA Administrator produces excellent shows and controls expenses in all areas of the production budget. Our challenge is offering shows that appeal to both our audience and our on stage and crew talent. Most season ticket holders enjoy the classic American musical theatre pieces like Annie Get Your Gun and My Fair Lady and shy away from recent works like The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Avenue Q. However, younger talent and audiences love the edgier, contemporary works of art. Ticket sales vary from season to season, so a reliable funding stream, a diverse board, engaged current members, and sponsors are all critical to our success.
