Description
We maintain a catalog of research projects to ensure the animals we rehabilitate and release are thriving in and out of our care, and that our education programming is effective. We present our work and findings annually at wildlife conferences around the United States. We are currently measuring the effects of laser therapy for wound healing in Eastern box turtles. We are also working to better analyze trends in human-wildlife conflict in Nashville, based on the huge volume of calls and requests we receive, and developing data platforms to enable us to share our data with the larger wildlife rehabilitation community. For every research finding we uncover, we make it a point to share it with the general public along with a related call to action.

Description
We rehabilitate injured, orphaned and sick wildlife that the public finds. We specialize in turtles, as they are a declining species in Nashville. This is a volunteer-run program, and we do not charge for our services and receive no state or federal funding. Your donations are what allow us to help the public, and save lives!

Description
Nashville Wildlife Conservation Center regularly partners with MNPS, as enrichment for their extended care program. This provides students that stay in after-school care with the opportunity to connect with wildlife they can find right outside their own home and school. Program participants play games, enjoy hands-on activities, and meet our local, native Tennessee wildlife ambassadors. This also provides an opportunity for us to (indirectly) reach parents and teachers, adults who can make a big difference in shaping minds and behavior. We believe it is essential that these programs include repeated visits, for lasting impact. We work with MNPS to select priority schools with particular attention to those without environmental education programming.

Description
We offer targeted wildlife education throughout the year at nature centers, community events, corporate events, and through partnerships with other groups. This is beyond our school programming, and occurs at least quarterly. Programs align with seasonal wildlife needs (Leave The Leaves in the fall, or Lights Out Nashville during bird migrations, etc.). Programs can be as simple as an appearance on the local news, sharing our research in a workshop, or as involved as a multisession, hands-on trail restoration project on public or private land. We always welcome new partnerships.

Description
Each year we welcome interns to support our animal care, research, and education work. Students typically receive college credit and may carry out a service-learning project where they will learn about native-Tennessee urban wildlife and the challenges they endure. They will decide what community service project they want to do, work with our network of experts, figure out the logistics of their project, and organize and execute their project. We end with a celebration of what they've accomplished. Not only does this build confidence, help the environment, and make education applicable, but it betters their community and enforces a sense of community.
