Those of us who know and love 202 Friendship House know that keeping the budget balanced is one of our biggest issues. We reach a tremendous number of people on a very small amount, around $225,000 a year, and most of that (about 75%) comes through group rents, membership and concession sales. Year after year, we have to raise another $50,000+ through grant writing, special events, and other efforts.
It is our most heartfelt desire that the staff and board not have to devote time to fundraising that can be better spent on helping alcoholics and keeping the house running smoothly.
We are raising an endowment, so that we can be truly sustainable. With a $1,250,000 endowment, earning a modest 4% a year, we would have income of $50,000 to cover that gap. Thanks to some amazing donors, we are almost there. This year, we were able to get a $250,000 matching grant, which will get us to $1,250,000.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
We have determined that we can no longer rely upon voluntary contributions and dues to keep the Friendship House open, as we have for 45 years. Therefore, we have an organized campaign with a fundraising committee actively applying for foundation grants and individual contributions. Friendship House does not prepare a formal annual budget. |
