Budget
$140,000.00
Description
Provide space for AA meetings and Al-Anon meetings at an always affordable rent (percentage of the basket). In 2021, we added all the technology required to create a "zoom room" in order to continue to provide Zoom meetings and then added hybrid meetings, where people can meet in person and on zoom at the same meeting. This has increased our reach in the community by including people who once came to 202, but because of age or moving no longer came to the physical location.
Program Successes
We have someone who attends both in-person and zoom meetings. He now has 19 months sober and his first meeting was our very first zoom meeting. His life was destroyed by alcohol, and while he was able to maintain a job, it was in jeopardy, along with his marriage and friendships. He now has a thriving marriage, an even better job, an abundance of friends, and he is a mentor to others who are trying to recover.
Category
Mental Health & Crisis Intervention  - Substance Abuse
Beneficiaries
People with substance use disorder
Long-term Success
We have people attending meetings at 202 with as many as 45 years sober and as few as one day.
Short-term Success
The addition of zoom has made it possible for people who could not attend meetings in person to get sober.
Program Success Monitored By
Because the nature of our program is anonymous, we rely on annual surveys and the best marker of recovery is the chips and medallions we give out to help people mark their milestones.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

Friendship House provides a location where individual AA groups can meet. The House must raise funds to maintain the building and to provide hospitality to individuals in recovery. Our client population has grown through court referrals and individuals exiting treatment centers. Our old base of funding, founders of Friendship House with years of recovery, are no longer able to support us as the need for our service grows, because many have passed away, or are living on retirement. Many of the newer members are not able to contribute because they are participating in treatment programs and are often not working. Friendship House seeks contributions, grants, and gift from individuals, foundations and endowments to provide the House with a stable revenue stream.
