Marlene's Experience: Marlene has a BA in Family and Consumer Sciences from California State University, Sacramento, and an MBA from Lipscomb University. Marlene's passion for helping under-privileged children, began with her serving as a Children's Minister for 12 years. As the RTRA Executive Director, Marlene oversees daily operations, empowering and resourcing our volunteers with tools to give hope and build a future through education. Drawing on her experiences, Marlene is a tenacious leader behind RTRA initiatives. Marlene's heart is that children know the love of God and that orphaned and at-risk children are cared for.

David's Experience: David's childhood in Uganda sparked a passion for both spiritual and social poverty alleviation. Growing up in village orphanages of Uganda and Kenya, David joined the African Children's Choir at the age of 9, and toured Europe and North America. David attended college in India and the US, and worked in banking and finance in the San Francisco Bay Area. David completed his MDiv at Vanderbilt University. "I believe that when we give orphaned and at-risk children a place to call home, a school to attend, and a family to belong to, we hold fidelity to the essence of living.' Since 2005, when David and Marlene shared the Raise the Roof vision with two friends, he has continued to mobilize the RTRA community as a visible witness that the millions of orphaned and at-risk children in the world need compassionate friends and strangers to join in their journey out of poverty in practical ways. David feels privileged to speak for Raise the Roof initiatives, coordinate RTRA International teams, and serve on the RTRA Board.
