We advocate for children and community development one household at a time. Our vision is to see generations of empowered children lead community change and share their passions with the world.
Background
Because of your generosity, over 1,300 children are now attending school because of Raise the Roof Academy. Raise the Roof Academy has brought hope to the community. A community with so little, now has a school that shares God's love by providing education, food, health, employment, electricity, a greater connection to the world, and choices for a greater future.
Impact
Bwasandeku, Uganda is a village that has been hard-hit by HIV/AIDS. Raise the Roof Academy was started after our 2008 visit to the community in response to the hundreds of orphaned and at-risk children that were left behind and were not attending school. We continue to build and add more children and teachers as able.

CEO Statement
Raise the Roof Academy students are living proof that education opens doors out of poverty, child labor, disease, and chaos. Our students come from families who often live on less than $1 a day. We provide a free, high-quality education to girls and boys born in the most remote communities of Uganda who, due to poverty and social pressures, would otherwise be cut off from the promise of education. Through our Child Sponsorship Initiative we seek out the most vulnerable children, many of whom are orphaned and have been affected by malaria, HIV/AIDS, and extreme poverty. We work with our Child and Community Development Leaders to strengthen capacities in villages to care for the most vulnerable. Key to the success of our Child Sponsorship Initiative, is that we provide education for their guardians too, many of whom are responsible for numerous children. Over time this means families are able to build a life of dignity and purpose reaping the rewards of their own hard work. Your sponsorship of just $35 each month will provide your child a school uniform, breakfast and lunch, school supplies and pay their tuition so they can receive an education for a promising future. You can develop a meaningful, lasting relationship through written letters that will be received from your sponsored child! Your sponsorship will provide life-saving preventive measures, basic health care, awareness workshops on preventing disease, safe water, education and comfort to children and families. Your support will save lives.
Board Chair Statement
We develop high-quality education centers, provide community health programs, create income generating opportunities, and grow alongside local leaders. This multi-faceted, participatory approach builds local capacities and long-term relationships to create lasting, community-wide advancement, rather than a transactional supply of assistance.
