Christie's Experience: Christie Andrews, M.Ed. completed her undergraduate work at the University of California, Irvine. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science and completed a course of graduate studies in Elementary Education at the California State University, Fullerton where she received a multiple subjects teaching credential. She later received a certificate in Language Acquisition and Development from California State University, San Bernardino. Andrews received her Master's Degree in Education from David Lipscomb University. Mrs. Andrews has taught grades K-6 in the classroom setting and worked with middle and high school students one-on-one. Her area of special interest and expertise is educational assessment. She has been working as an administrator in learning centers providing one-on-one teaching, assessment, and advocacy for the past 15 years. Mrs. Andrews is married and has 5 children.

As with many non-profits, Learning Matters founding Board of Directors was a mix of friends and business professionals heavily involved in the governance of the organization. Today, as our reach has expanded, we are restructuring our board with an 80% focus on fundraising and a 20% focus on governance. As a result, at our annual meeting in September of 2018 many of our members stepped down from their positions in order for Learning Matters to rebuild to accommodate our needs. At present we have 10 motivated and committed members. Our board development committee is working diligently to identify candidates with various skill sets who will be champions for our cause and better represent our constituency.
