Background

The Nashville FCA is the oldest FCA Adult Chapter in the country, established in the late 50s. The FCA brand is to 'Influence the Influencers'. FCA is a faith based ministry within middle schools, high schools and colleges. Our stated purpose is to 'Present Christ to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, with the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the Church'. This objective is carried out through establishing 'FCA Huddle groups' in schools. These are student initiated and student lead groups, and each has an 'FCA Huddle Coach' as their sponsor. Our FCA staff and office provide resource material, encouragement and support to these groups. FCA also provides special events (weekend retreats, lock-ins, summer week long 'FCA camps' which also carry out our purpose of presenting Christ and encouraging students to make their Christian influence known to others).

Impact

Past year's accomplishments: Over 535 student-athletes, coaches and families attended FCA summer camps! Huge turnouts for our 'Leadership Training Breakfast'. We host two per year...one in the fall and one in the spring. These events help students build strong FCA 'huddles' at their schools where they learn how to share Jesus with their peers. Goals for this FCA School Year: To host local day camps for area students, to mobilize more volunteers to help us cover the vast mission field which is our schools, and to fund programs to build character and to offer hope to those struggling with drugs and alcohol, self destruction/low self esteem, and loneliness.

Needs

1. Additional 'Field Staff': the current ratio is 1 staff person/20 schools. The ideal is 1 staff/10 schools, which would allow for more in depth ministry. 2. Additional funds for 'FCA Summer Camp' scholarships for MS & HS students and their coaches ($$350 to $600). 3. Character Coaches-A volunteer who would procure speakers for 'FCA Chapels' before HS games. 4. FCA Prayer Captains for each campus-A volunteer who would gather other adults to pray weekly for specific needs at a school, provided by the FCA coach.

FCA's Middle Tennessee office is located in Nashville and serves Davidson County and Williamson County. Satellite offices and staff are located in Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Wilson County, Dickson, Columbia, Sumner County, Robertson County, and Cookeville.
