Mission

Connect youth and young adult emerging artists to resources and opportunities that foster creativity and financial stability.

Background

2015: Research into Local Holiday for Nashville's Creative Economy
2016: Creatives Day Recognized by Mayor's Office via Proclamation on Saturday, October 21st on the campus of Fisk University
2017: Annual Celebration with Nashville Public Library
2018: Approved for 501c3 with programs to serve the creative community on January 4th

Impact

To date more than 16 young adult musicians have realized a total cost savings of $64,000 in music production expenses ($4,000 per program participant) which allowed each participant to reallocate their personal budget for quality of life items such as housing, food and medicine as they successfully completed our music program. Programming also includes mental health and wellness workshops including one-on-ones for musicians that struggle with depression and anxiety.

Finally, through our engagement with various community stakeholders, we have successfully identified and created more than 20 employment opportunities for emerging young adult artists thanks to public-private community partnerships with the National Museum of African American Music, Make Music Nashville, Neighbor 2 Neighbor, and Arts & Business Council of Greater Nashville. These employment opportunities include short term and long term contractual agreements with our community partners in the area of Performing Arts, Education and Consulting.

CEO Statement

Dear Friends, our programming is constantly evolving to serve the needs of our youth and young adult emerging artists community in Middle Tennessee. Our organization has evolved to meet the needs of youth and young adult emerging artists that struggle to find adequate access to arts education experiences and artist development resources. During the past year, many of the youth and young adult emerging artists we served said they now feel more confident and that they finally have access to an organization that speaks to their core needs.

We created vision statement to clarify our strategy and as a nonprofit. When a young adult artist says "resources for youth and young adult emerging artists," Creatives Day should immediately come to their minds. Our vision: "A world where youth and young adult emerging artists possess the keys to create opportunities of economic empowerment for themselves and for their cities through their innate talent, vision, and innovation."

We made great strides in accomplishing the organization's vision to date. We cannot stop and rest on these successes. If Creatives Day is to fulfill its vision to "create a world where youth and young adult emerging artists possess the keys to create opportunities of economic empowerment" then we need your help, your support, and your feedback. You are why we are here and together we can continue to ensure that the dreams of our youth and young adult emerging artists community in Middle Tennessee are realized and not deferred.
