Mission

Our Mission is to provide for those who are lacking...Lacking resources, training, motivation, or other necessities to live a full life...Lacking purpose in their lives...Lacking the opportunity to serve, use their gifts, and give to others. We provide multiple opportunities for people to use the gifts, talents, and resources God has given them to change the world.

Background

The Nashville Dream Center was established in 2005 by Pastors David and Kristy Calhoun and is an affiliate of the L.A. Dream Center. During the past 13 years, several communities have benefited from the Adopt-A-Block in Downtown Nashville, Food Distribution Ministry in Nashville and Lebanon. There is a once a month Clothing Ministry to provide free clothing and groceries to those that need it and a Jail Ministry that continues to reach out to those that need some help. There are several other ministries that the Nashville Dream Center supports.

Impact

The Nashville Dream Center has increased the amount of groceries and clothing they give out along with purchasing a bus to help those who do not have transportation to the Clothing Ministry and Church service. We are looking to expand our facilities to reach more people in need and double the amount of groceries and clothing.

Needs

The Nashville Dream Center needs Volunteers to increase the number of opportunities to visit the communities and a larger facility to store and sort the clothing and food.

CEO Statement

Honestly, my work with the Nashville Dream Center includes a lot of time and work. Sometimes it's speeding a hot and sweaty weekend in July cleaning up streets and handing out food or shivering in December passing out Christmas gifts to hundreds of children. It is countless hours in our warehouse loading and unloading food, sorting clothes, or just cleaning and preparing for events. BUT EVERY MOMENT OF TIME AND EVERY DROP OF SWEAT IS WORTH IT! We get to see lives changed. The smiles on the children, the heart felt thanks we receive from a mother who knows her children will not be hungry that week, the teen that ends up going to college instead of joining a gang or selling drugs, and the difference we see in the lives of everyone we reach make it worth it all. The Nashville Dream Center enables me to fulfill Hebrews 13:16 which says 'And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased'. Kristy Calhoun - Vice President/Executive Director

Board Chair Statement

One major key to maintaining commitment is purpose. I have been committed to the Nashville Dream Center for over a decade because we have a wonderful purpose. We exist to provide for those who are lacking and have the privilege of doing that every day. So many people who have financial, food, clothing or other personal needs are having them met every day by the Nashville Dream Center. Also, many who are lacking purpose or the ability to use their gifts and talents to help others are being given that opportunity through the multitude of outreaches the Nashville Dream Center provides. Our staff is completely comprised of volunteers so none of our donations are used to pay salaries but instead go toward meeting the needs of those in our region. It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of the mission of the Nashville Dream Center. - David Calhoun, President of the Nashville Dream Center
