Description
Clothing is a need that everyone has. Whether it's clothing for a job interview, clothing for someone that is homeless or may have recently lost their home due to a fire or other tragedy, or school clothes for a child, the free clothing store of The Nashville Dream Center meets an important basic need. If someone needs a warm coat, work pants, new underwear, a pair of shoes, school clothes, toiletries etc. generous community members have donated those items and more. Individuals & families can come to the free clothing store once a month on the first Friday of the month from 9am until noon to shop for what they need. Along with the free clothing & toiletries we also provide free breakfast while people wait for their turn to shop. Free Chiropractic adjustments along with teaching on subjects to help maintain good health are available each time the Free Clothing store is open. Every family that comes to shop for clothes also leaves with a bag of groceries.

Adopt-a-Block reaches out to at-risk areas within Nashville and middle Tennessee, adopting specific communities in need of assistance. Teams of volunteers enter the community on the first and third Saturdays of each month to provide for the needs of that specific community. Many different needs are met including street clean-up, home repairs, lawn maintenance, visits with the elderly, grocery delivery for those in need and a host of other services. Volunteers that go into these communities are making long-term, life-changing improvements to the communities that need it most. If you wish to get involved with this life-changing, impactful and expanding program you can message us at info@NashvilleDreamCenter.com

The Nashville Dream Center Gives away over 300,000 pounds of groceries each year and that amount is rapidly growing as the need for food assistance is rapidly growing as well. We take truck loads of groceries into at risk neighborhoods and set up tables lined with all different kids of groceries and the families get to come through and get the food that they need. We also have a food pantry set up at our warehouse where people can come to receive bags of groceries. Our free clothing store gives groceries to each family that comes to shop for clothes and volunteers carry groceries to the homes of the elderly and disabled that are in need of food that can't make it out to pick up groceries at our distribution sites.

Description
Sidewalk Sunday school is a program where we take groups of volunteers into dangerous at risk neighborhoods to reach out to, teach, and mentor children. We do a high energy program for them filled with singing, dancing, games, prizes, and teaching from the Bible to help them overcome the extreme obstacles that they face in every day life. Many of the children that come are wandering around the most dangerous neighborhoods in Nashville completely alone with no adult supervision at all. These wonderful kids need people to be there for them to show them love and encourage them that they can have a better life. They need people to encourage them to stay away from the gangs, to work hard at school and do well and pursue a better future for themselves and to know that God has a plan for them.

Homeless ministry is one of our newer programs but it can make such a difference in the lives of so many. You meet such a variety of people that are homeless from the very young to the elderly, men, women, & children. The reasons that they are homeless are also varied. Some come out of abusive home situations, some have addiction problems, some have mental health issues and some have just fallen on hard times and need a helping hand to get back to a place of self sufficiency. We carry hot meals, toiletries, clothing and whatever else they may need at the time to them. We give volunteers time to talk with and pray with them to find out what they need to move beyond the circumstances they are in at the time. We are working on programs to help them with job training and placement.
