Mission

Mercy Multiplied exists to provide opportunities for all to experience God's unconditional love, forgiveness, and life-transforming power.
Mercy's residential counseling program is voluntary, biblically-based, and helps young women ages 13-32 break free from life-controlling issues and situations, including anxiety, depression, abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, addictions, unplanned pregnancy, and sex trafficking. These residential services are offered free-of-charge. In September of 2020, Mercy Multiplied launched its first Mercy Multiplied Center for Wellness and Counseling in Monroe/West Monroe, LA offering free-of-charge outpatient counseling to women aged 13 and older. This center is a prototype and Mercy expects to expand these services to other locations.
Our Outreach Services train and resource men and women to effectively support and minister to those who are hurting and struggling through workshops, videos, podcasts, discipleship teaching, and other practical resources.
Remaining ever faithful to its three founding principles: (1) accept young women free-of-charge, (2) always give at least ten percent of all donations to other organizations and ministries, and (3) we do not take government funding or any money that interferes with the freedom to share Christ. Mercy has seen thousands of lives transformed through the power of Christ.

Background

Mercy was founded by Nancy Alcorn in 1983 after an eight-year career working with juvenile delinquent girls and investigating child abuse cases. Nancy's work gave her unique insight into the many reasons social problems exist, particularly in young women. It also gave her direct encounters with secular programs that were not producing permanent results. Determined to establish a program in which lives would truly be transformed, Nancy opened the first Mercy home in Monroe, LA. Today Mercy homes exist in Monroe, LA; Nashville, TN; Sacramento, CA; and St. Louis, MO. International affiliates exist in the United Kingdom, Canada, and New Zealand. Mercy's residential program is voluntary, biblically based, and completely free of charge to young women ages 13-32. It uses proven methods and counselors, lasts approximately six months, and features a multi-dimensional approach to heal body, mind, and spirit. We address the root causes of the issues women face, rather than merely medicating symptoms or modifying external behavior. Our goal is to help residents permanently stop destructive cycles, discover purpose for their lives, and become productive and thriving individuals. Our outreach programs are based on the same biblically based, life-transforming principles used by Mercy homes for over 30 years in helping troubled young women find lasting freedom and live an empowered Christian life. Mercy Multiplied operated under the name Mercy Ministries until October 2015, when we changed our name to better reflect our expanded outreach initiatives and commitment to "multiplying" Mercy outside of our residential homes.

Impact

In 2019, Mercy Multiplied continued to provide life-changing programs for young women in need. Our Intake Department fielded 13,105 contacts (phone calls, emails, texts) and processed more than 1,330 applications. To date, our Outreach services has trained over 1,500 pastors and leaders through our MPower Workshops. We continue to hear amazing testimonies from men and women of all ages who have completed our Keys to Freedom study. Christ is using this study to help Christians who have been held in bondage find freedom. Over 20,000 people around the world have been through the study. Keys to Freedom has now been translated into Dutch, German, Danish, and Spanish. This past year we completed over $600,000 in capital improvements to existing properties, debt free. These necessary updates allow each home to operate at a standard of excellence. In 2018, an independent firm conducted a survey of former Mercy residents, similar in scope to the former resident surveys conducted in 2008 and 2013, to determine how successfully Mercy's residential homes are fulfilling our mission. Key findings in all categories remained essentially unchanged from the 2008 and 2013 studies, including:9 out of 10 participants answered "yes" when asked if Mercy fulfilled its mission by transforming their lives and restoring their hope. 93% would recommend Mercy to other young women struggling with similar issues and 84% indicated that they have shared their story of life transformation with others.

Needs

Mercy always solicits your prayers for those we serve, those who serve, and for God to change hearts. Financially, we are currently focusing on operational funds for our residential program and setting up a capital fund to for ongoing capital needs.
