Mission

Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a volunteer-based group committed to enriching our children's educational experiences at Julia Green and building a vibrant community at our school. The PTO meets a critical need in our school by providing funding for programs, initiatives, and supplies that are not available through Davidson County Schools.From fundraising to festivals, the PTO works throughout the year to build community, raise awareness and promote good citizenship, and to provide support for faculty and staff.

Background

Formed in 1982, the Julia Green PTO has played a pivotal role in the lives and education of Julia Green Children. All parents are members. There are approximately 350 families at Julia Green currently. All of the annual funding decisions are made together with administration and teachers and parents of Julia Green. The PTO creates an environment for parents to come together with their talents and abilities to enrich this public school.

Needs

Because the needs of a school are constant, Julia Green PTO is always in need of parent involvement and financial support. We strive to find ways for all members of our community to be involved in our organization. Since the PTO does not have a paid staff, it will always be a challenge to find individuals that have the time and energy to dedicate to help us meet the needs of Julia Green Elementary School, its students, faculty and staff, and members of our school community. PTO Funds are used to support: 1) the hiring of a Reading Interventionist to ensure each student is reaching their personal, maximum potential; 2) Teacher supplies including art, library, and physical education supplies; 3) Technology, providing for iPads and Smart Boards in more classrooms and school-wide access to educational computer programs; 4) Student support to ensure the needs of all students are met to the best of our ability, in solidarity with the school's "whole-child" approach to teaching; 5) Teacher training and professional development to support our teachers and their commitment to excellence in the classroom.
