Long-term Success
This program has been in existence since 2015. It started with 3 people managing the program. They fed 75 people per week and assisted with their needs during the week if necessary. They continue to feed and provide clothing and toiletry items more than 75 persons per week especially due to the pandemic and transients due to unaffordable housing.
Short-term Success
In 2021, 14 organizations and churches have partnered with the Stay Warm Shelter. They assisted with food prep, sorting and storing clothing and providing assistance on Friday nights in January and February. Because of the partnerships, it is the desire of the newly formed coalition to start providing more overnight stays around the county for the homeless population during the coldest months of the year. It also brought homelessness to the forefront in Sumner County because there are no "shelters" for the unhoused in Sumner County. The Stay Warm Shelter was under the radar until a local newspaper article was written then local TV stations started airing information about the shelter due to the lack of a homeless facility in the county.
Program Success Monitored By
The program is monitored by Minister Deborah Alston who started the program.

Unlimited Potential Inc., partners with the Tennessee Housing Development Agency to provide approved counselors to provide the First Time Home Buyers Education Program. The program is designed to help first-time homebuyers overcome common obstacles: not enough savings for a down payment; uncertainty about how the home-buying process works; uncertainty about the qualifications for obtaining a home loan, and concern about high-risk, 'gimmick' mortgages. We offer the classes at our location which provides a welcoming atmosphere for learning and obtaining pertinite information about one of the most important purchases an individual or family makes. Completion of the program helps the student get assistance with the down payment, and the opportunity to secure lower interest loans from state approved lenders, ensuring that the use of predatory lenders is not necessary.

The Unlimited Potential Community Development Corporation is well on the way to becoming a premier service agency in the Gallatin Community. Since the completion of our Community Life Center, we have excelled in offering programs for the underserved and underrepresented members of our community, and the community at large. In addition to having a gymnasium that has Open Court times for use by the community for basketball, we offer a state-of-the-art weight and fitness room. We have offered an Adult Basketball Tournament, Boot Camp and Zumba fitness classes free of charge to the community at large during our first full year of operation. In addition, we began a youth Cheerleading and Basketball league which garnered more than 130 participants from grades K4-8. We also held a Skills and Agility camp for youth during the summer which was instrumental in keeping youth occupied and getting physical activity during the summer months. We also hosted a community wide Halloween 'Trunk or Treat' event which garnered more than 200 youth and their families. We also partnered with a local church and hosted a community-wide Easter Egg hunt and had mote than 300 participants from the community. Our plans for the future include the development of a Flag Football league for youth, volleyball tournaments, fitness classes and programs for mature adults, technology classes for mature adults and those who want to learn the basics of computer and cell phone usage, and other programs for the community at large. Unlimited Potential, Inc. is committed to being a resource for community members and to assist in any way possible.
The Stay Warm Shelter continued without any grants, however, persons in the community started donating money, food and toiletries to make up the difference. The Stay Warm Shelter has received publicity in the newspapers and on the local television stations.
