Description
The Tennessee Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (TNRPCVs) took an oath when they swore in as official Peace Corps Volunteers to uphold the "Third Goal of the Peace Corps" which is to educate American citizens about the host countries and cultures they served in. Every year, TNRPCVs, in conjunction with the National Peace Corps Association and the Peace Corps host Peace Corps Week during the first week of March. In past years, TNRPCVs have simply given presentations at schools, but in 2011, TNRPCVs held several educational and engagement events honoring five decades of service, effectiveness overseas and hopefully inspiring the next generation of volunteers.

TNRPCVs sets a monthly giving policy to the Peace Corps Partnership Program (Partnership Program). The Partnership Program is a 501(c)3 organization created by the U.S. Peace Corps to identify and administer financial donations of support, within the context of the goals of the Peace Corps, to small-scale, community-initiated international development projects. These projects are jointly proposed by Peace Corps Volunteers and their host-country community leaders to address basic needs. The projects that the TNRPCVs support are those facilitated by current Peace Corps Volunteers from Tennessee. To make assurances that the projects are legitimate, the projects are overseen and approved by Peace Corps staff and made public for the TNRPCVs to support.

Description
Ongoing education about Peace Corps service is one of the core tenants for TNRPCVs. Since the group's inception, TNRPCVs have worked to promote awareness, increase knowledge of and coordinate between various RPCV groups and individuals across the state of TN in youth education about international cultures through our Peace Corps experiences. Returned Peace Corps Volunteers hold a deep knowledge of little understood cultures that school children would otherwise never hear of if it were not for TNRPCVs visiting their classrooms. We hope that by preparing youth that the world isn't a scary place and that people from other cultures fundamentally are not much different from us that maybe we will have a chance at world peace. We have created a website (www.tnrpcv.org) which serves as an information hub for TNRPCVs news and events related to our group.
