Description
LifeSet assists young people who have "aged out" of state custody and are unprepared to meet the demands of independent living. These young adults are usually without support from family, have no financial resources, and are often burdened with significant and debilitating mental health issues. Many have children of their own. They have critical, immediate needs - such as food, clothing, and a safe place to live - in addition to their long-term goals and interests. Most of these youth are living in the margins of society without knowing how to access community resources to meet their basic needs.

Since 1999, the adoption program has partnered with the Department of Children's Services (DCS) to find "forever" homes for children in foster care. Youth Villages specializes in supporting the adoption process of children who are facing special challenges, most of whom have suffered emotional trauma, abuse, or neglect during childhood. These children have received quality care from us, and to reach their full potential, they need the kind of security that a permanent family can provide. DCS does not provide any funds for this program, highlighting the urgent need for community support.
