Description
The Roberta Baines-Wheeler Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Day is a day filled with awareness, empowerment, and hope. The day is named in honor of Roberta Baines-Wheeler, a nurse of over forty years who continued to lead advocacy initiatives following her diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension and up until the week she passed. Pulmonary hypertension is a life-threatening illness with no cure. Many individuals have never heard of pulmonary hypertension and patients are often misdiagnosed and provided with limited service. The purpose of the RBW PH Awareness Day is to bring awareness to this life-threatening illness and bring patients, caretakers, medical professionals, and the community together for a 5k walk and health fair.
